It has no bias and doesn\u2019t interest itself in the results, only the process. \u00a0To think and explore scientifically requires adherence to a process which is reproducible and refutable. Remarkably, this latter conclusion was based on results from only one patient. Multiple subsequent reports revealed no pCA progression with T administration, and some men even experienced subjective improvement, such as resolution of bone pain. More recent data have shown no apparent increase in pCA rates in clinical trials of T supplementation in normal men or men at increased risk for pCA, no relationship of pCA risk with serum T levels in multiple longitudinal studies, and no reduced risk of pCA in men with low T. The apparent paradox in which castration causes pCA to regress yet higher T fails to cause pCA to grow is resolved by a saturation model, in which maximal stimulation of pCA is reached at relatively low levels of T.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><b>CONCLUSIONS:<\/b><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">This historical perspective reveals that <b><i>there is not now-nor has there ever been-a scientific basis for the belief that T causes pCA to grow<\/i><\/b>. These authors and others also reported a rapid clinical progression with T administration. This led to the concept that T was like \u201cfood for a hungry tumor\u201d for men with PCa. <b><i>Fowler and Whitmore recognized in 1981 that the negative effect of T administration did not occur unless men had been previously castrated. However, this critical observation was either forgotten or dismissed amid major changes in PCa diagnosis and management during the 1980s. <\/i><\/b>More recent studies have failed to provide clinical evidence supporting the belief that higher T represents a risk for PCa.
